Berwald Oxenstierna wasn't the exactly the class heartthrob. He was tall and muscular, but he wasn't a jock. He was intimidating, but he wasn't a thug. Berwald Oxenstierna was just there. He was one of those weird kids that nobody knew who they were friends with. He was one of those kids and yet nobody was curious enough to find out more about him. He didn't lack presence or anything. In fact, it was just the opposite of that. People just learned to stay away from him, and that was just the way things were.

You were new to Hetalia High School. In fact, it was your first day. You wondered what group you would end up in. Maybe you'd be popular at this school or on the student council or something. Who knows. All you knew was that you didn't want to be an annoying little poop. That seemed easy enough. You just wanted to find a nice group of friends who were nice and fun to be with. You wanted a normal start at your school, but Berwald Oxenstierna ruined all of that.

Berwald Oxenstierna was a complete stranger to you. He wasn't that intimidating giant his classmates steered away from. He wasn't socially awkward or socially inept. He wasn't really weird at all. He was just a stranger. That's the way things started out.

You were wandering the almost empty halls of your new school, already late for class. You joined in the middle of the year, so there was no orientation. You wandered around, feeling like freshmeat when you bumped into someone. All of the books you were holding, and the stranger's as well, spilled all over the floor. You apologized profusely so they wouldn't think you were a turd.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going! I'm new here and well, I kind of got lost." You explained as nicely as you could.

"It's quite alright! Let me help you out with your things. I can walk you to your class if you show me your schedule. I'm a little late to class, but I'm sure my teacher will understand. He's very kind." A boy said. A nice boy said. A nice and cute boy said. Oh boy.

"Thank you so much! I'm _______ by the way. It's nice to meet you!" You said, smiling. You looked down at the boy. He was picking up all of your things for you. He's very sweet. Did I mention that he's cute? Like really cute? You studied his short blonde hair and warm eyes, eventually zoning out.

"I'm Tino. It's so nice to meet you too!" He said, also smiling. Did you hear that? He thought that it was so nice to meet you. Your cheeks heated up a bit as he looked over your shoulder at your schedule. "Ah, I have a class in the opposite direction, but no worries, I'll still walk you to class. It looks like we have a few classes together. Oh good! We have lunch together!" He remarked.

Your blush deepened. This boy must have invented cute. You were getting increasingly nervous around him, but you were able to keep yourself together. "Thank you." You told him as he handed you your books. The two of you began to make your way down the hall.

"Do you want to eat lunch together?" Tino asked, tilting his head to the side. Seriously, this guy should teach other boys how to be cute. Oh what a lovely world it would be if all boys were cute like Tino.

"Sure! I'd love to!" You said, smiling. Ever since you met Tino a whopping two minutes ago, you've been smiling more. He's really sweet. You could tell that he would make an awesomesauce friend.

"Great! You can meet the others! Uh, I'm not really friends with many girls, so I hope that's okay with you." He confessed, awkwardly.

Score. He doesn't have many female friends if you know what I mean. You were kind of surprised because he seemed like the kind of guy that girls would want to hang out with. Scratch that, a lot of girls these days go for jerks. You were hoping that his friends were just as nice as him. Hopefully, they were cute, too.

You merrily skipped along to class with Tino chatting away. You were feeling good about your new school, yet something wasn't right. You didn't know what it was, but there was an unsettling feeling residing in you. It was like someone was glaring at the back of your head. You were right, someone was quite literally glaring at the back of your head.

Berwald Oxenstierna was staring at you from a hiding place. He always preferred to walk in the halls when they were empty. Today, he saw you. His heart did backflips. Well it would have if he wasn't frozen in fear. Berwald wasn't afraid of you, but he was very afraid to approach you. After all, you were the prettiest girl Berwald had ever seen.

I'm not saying that you're not pretty, but Berwald has unique taste. Most males would agree that Beyoncé or someone like Beyoncé is the prettiest girl ever. While you wish that you were, you were no Beyoncé. You weren't really a classic beauty either. Sure, you were very pretty, but in your own unique way. It just so happens that Berwald is a unique kind of guy.

You see, once Berwald got over his childish "fear", he was going to claim you as his wife. However, Tino Väinämöinen seemed to take a liking to you. Berwald didn't want you to be Tino's wife. So Berwald just glared at you, waiting for Tino to leave.

Once his deemed romantic rival left, he crept up behind you. It's not like Berwald tried to be creepy, weird, or intimidating, he just was. He's one of those people who doesn't have anything wrong with his face. When asked, he would simply reply that his face is just the way it is. He has a serious case of resting creepy face and resting creepy personality. Poor Berwald didn't know, though. He's like someone whose fly was down the entire day, but nobody told them.

Since Berwald is so conveniently oblivious to his syndrome, he walked right up to you and struck up a conversation. Of course Berwald is also terrible at making conversations and extremely hard to understand. Berwald is like a jigsaw puzzle. Think of a jigsaw puzzle wrapped in a Rubix Cube inside a labyrinth that's underground a pyramid that's part of ancient ruins in the lost city of Atlantis that can only be reached on Amelia Earhart's plane which requires a golden ticket that you can only win by guessing the lottery number. Yes, Berwald is a jigsaw puzzle.

"I hvn't sn y'rnd bfre. Tino's m'wife, bt I thnk I fncy y'as wll." A deep voice said? Someone seriously needs to make a translator from whatever the heck this guy is saying to English because you couldn't catch a word he said.

You looked up at the large boy, or man, not really sure what to say. You paused for a moment and tried to think of the best think to say back to this very tall man. "Oh, hi. My name's _______. I'm a new student here. I'd love to stay and chat with you, but I'm already late for class. We can talk later, though!" You promised, hoping he wouldn't take you too seriously.

"Hm? Alrghty thn I gss 'll b'sng y'thn." He saidish.

You weren't really sure if you understood him or not, so you just nodded and went into your classroom. The tall young man watched silently as you disappeared before parting himself. He thought about what he would say to you later.

When it was finally lunch time, you met up with Tino and followed him to his table. You guys were talking about the school and stuff and what you thought about it. You know, that boring crap that we can skip over because hahah no.

The two of you were the first of Tino's friends to arrive at lunch. You sat down at a table and quietly looked around the cafeteria.

There was a group of really loud boys in the center of the room. A lot of people were around them. There was a kid with blonde hair, blue eyes, and glasses yelling something about how he was the hero of the football game in gym class. He was obviously a jock. There was a guy with bushy eyebrows yelling at him. He was cute and seemed like that nerdy kind of sweet that's kind of in right now. Like frozen yogurt. Another boy with longish hair was flirting with some girls at a near by table.

The girls were being all giggly as two other boys surrounded them. One of them looked albino which was kind of unusual. Another one was tan with brown hair and green eyes. Those guys must be the popular guys. All the girls must be crushing on them. He was very very cute. Almost as cute as Tino.

You looked over at Tino. He must have a few admirers as well. Sure, he probably didn't have as many as those outgoing guys in the center of the room, but he must have some.

A really loud guy announced his arrival. He had freaking crazy hair. Seriously, someone needs to tell the dude about it. There were two boys trailing behind him. Both of them were pretty cute, but seemed quiet. Well, maybe they just seemed quiet because that other guy was being so loud. The three of them were walking in you direction.

"Yo! Tino! Is that the new girl?" The loud one shouted. Surprise surprise. He ran up to you guys, ditching his other friends. They didn't really seem to give a flying duck. "I heard all about you! Feliks is right! You are really pretty!" The blonde blabbered.

"Oh, thank you. I'm _______. What's your name?" You asked politely. He was kind of exhausting you, though. Just a bit.

"I'm Mathias! I'm really popular and a lot of girls like me! They probably like my good looks and personality!" He said, confidently pointing at himself.

"That's enough from you. I'm Lukas and this is my little brother, Emil." One of Mathias cute friends informed you.

"I told you not to call me that!" Emil whined. He's really really cute. He looks like a little baby.

    "Brwld." A deep voice stated.

All five of you slowly turned to look at the tall, blonde man standing before you. His blue eyes were serious, and his glasses intensified his glare. It was that guy from earlier, the jigsaw puzzle.

"Oh, hey there Berwald." Tino awkwardly laughed.

"I um have to go talk to Al and Gil for second." Mathias said before running off the middle of the cafeteria. Some ladykiller he was.

Lukas simply walked away and Emil followed him.

Tino was too polite to leave, and you were as well. You kind of felt bad for the way that the others had acted, but Berwald honestly didn't seem to notice. Did he know that they left because of him? Does this sort of thing always happen? And how the heck did Tino understand what he was saying?

"Y'rlly smll. I fl tll. I gss 'll st dwn fr a'bt." Berwald said. You could kind of understand him a little more this time around.

"Sure, go ahead." Tino said. Although he was smiling, you could hear the uncertainty dripping from his voice. You became nervous as well. Apparently Berwald asked to sit with you guys.

It was silent for the next five minutes. You and Tino ate your lunches while Berwald watched you eat. He took your schedule from you and studied it. You and Tino tried not to look at him too much. He was really intimidating and looked like he wanted to hurt you.

Berwald pocketed your schedule, stood up, and left. You were in shock. You didn't have your schedule memorized. Heck you didn't even know what classes you have next!

"Um, _______? You okay? I can take you to the office to get a new schedule." Tino said. He was worried about you. After all, the famously intimidating Berwald randomly snatched your schedule.

"That would be great." You replied halfheartedly. You were still a little weirded out by the whole encounter. Eventually, you shrugged it off and got a new schedule with Tino.

You were able to find the rest of your classes with your new schedule. You reached it to your final period of the day without having any classes with Berwald. You walked into your sewing class with Tino only to stumble upon Berwald. It was pretty awkward. The class was pretty empty, too, hence why you were placed into it.

You gave Berwald an awkward nod of acknowledgement and took a seat next to Tino. Berwald stared at you the entire class. Of course you had a class with him. You thought that you wouldn't. You had spoken too soon. Dang it, you were so close, too.

You spent the rest of the class constantly messing up and having to remove all the stitches you sewed. It was a little troublesome trying to concentrate with Berwald's glare casually burning into your soul. He kept starring, even when the class ended. Even though you could still sense him, you were immensely relieved. You gathered your things and headed towards your locker.

A note fell out from your locker. You picked it up and opened it.

"You're too beautiful. I can't help but stare at you. I look at you the way most people look at cake."

Who wrote this? You had never gotten a love letter until now. You weren't really sure what to feel or do. On one hand, it's really nice of this anonymous person to tell you that you're beautiful. On the other hand, the way most people stare at cake is creepy. Then again, there are tons of guys in this school with a great sense of humor. But what if this letter isn't from a funny guy? What if it isn't from a guy?

Thoughts were zooming through your head, and you began to pace back and forth. You bumped into someone and fell to the floor.

"My flt. Y'rlly smll. Y'rlly ct'as wll. I lk'at y'th wy I lk'at cke. I gss I lk y'a'bt." Berwald said in whatever language he was mixing with English.

"I'm sorry, could you repeat yourself?" You asked as kindly as you could.

"My fault. Yr rlly smll. Yr rlly ct as wll. I lk at you th wy I lk at cke. I gss I fncy you a bt." Berwald repeated.

You repeated what he said once more in your head. "My fault. You're really small. You're really cute as well. I look at you the way I look at cake. I guess I like you a bit." You thought. You almost had a freaking seizure once you figured out what he said.

You turned red and hopelessly tried to stammer out some words. "I-I-I-um. I don't know what to say! This is all very sudden. I don't know you too well, but um I-"

"Dnt wrry, y'dnt nd t d'anythng. I gss 'll gt gng. Aftr'll 'ts jst a'bt." Berwald gibbered.

You nodded in response, but didn't really catch any of it. You decoded what he said. "Don't worry, you don't need to do anything. I guess I'll get going. After all it's just a bit." You blushed lightly at the thought of someone already having a crush on you.

"Uh, Berwald! Wait!" You called out before grabbing his hand to stop him. "I really appreciate your feelings. Thank you." You told him.

    Berwald nodded in response.

You let go of his hand. You watched him turn around and walk all the way out of sight. Sure he might be a little different, but he was trying to be nice. You could tell.

You finished grabbing your things and headed home. You finally finished your first day of school.

You eased into your new life very easily. Tino was your first friend and one of your closest ones. You also hung out with Mathias, Lukas, and Emil. There weren't that many girls at your new school, but you were friends with a couple of them. You were also friends with Feliks, so that has to count in some way. The one person who you spent the most time with was Berwald.

Berwald followed you everywhere. You never really spoke to him since your first day, but you got letters from him every day. His feelings for you were growing, and you weren't really sure why. The notes would always saw that he loves you or loves looking at you more and more, but you never knew why he did any of those things. You wanted to confront him about it, but you were a little nervous about doing so.

You see, Berwald is very intimidating. In the hallways, he follows you out in the open, looming behind you. The only friend of yours that endures it with you is Tino. What a great guy. Berwald has the tendency to scare people away. He wasn't really scary like another kid, Ivan. He just sort of gave off a vibe. Berwald is completely harmless, and you knew it, but you were still too nervous to ask him why he claimed to love you.

One time after school, you decided to write a note and leave it in your locker. You thought for hours about what to say, but you couldn't really come up with any great ideas. You just settled for a nice and simple note. "I think you're very brave for writing love letters for me every day. It's very thoughtful, and I really appreciate it. I was just wondering why you decided to write letters to me. I'm not really anything special." You wrote.

The next day, you got to school early and placed your note in your locker where Berwald would be able to see it. You went through another boring day of school and Berwald followed you like he always did, silently. You kind of grew used to having him behind you, but then again you didn't really. His presents particularly stuck out to you today, though. You were waiting for his answer.

At the end of another school day that we can just skip over, you went back to your locker and saw Berwald standing in front of your locker. You hid yourself and watched him from afar this time. His left hand held the letter you wrote to him while his right one placed his response inside. Once he left, you made your way over to your locker and immediately grabbed the note.

"I love the way you look up at me. It's really cute. I love how adorable you are. You make me want to hug you. I love your smile. It warms me up. I love the way you treat others. You're really nice. I love all of these things, but the one thing I love most about you is that you're my best friend." It read.

Not gonna lie, you got a little teary eyed reading it. You never exactly considered Berwald as even a friend, yet to him, you were his best friend. It was true that you never pushed him away from you or said anything mean about him. It was true that you always read the letters he wrote to you. It was all true, but you weren't trying to be nice to Berwald.

You started to feel really bad for him. You knew everybody treated him differently, yet you did nothing about it.

Sure Berwald Oxenstierna wasn't the exactly the class heartthrob, but his heart throbbed for you. He was tall and muscular, but he wasn't a jock, and you were okay with that. He was intimidating, but he wasn't a thug. In fact, he's very sweet.

Berwald Oxenstierna was just there. He followed your everywhere. He was one of those weird kids that nobody knew who they were friends with, but he kind of hung around your group of friends. He was one of those kids and yet nobody was curious enough to find out more about him, making you the first.

He didn't lack presence of anything. In fact, it was just the opposite of that. You could always feel him behind you. People just learned to stay away from him, and that was just the way things were. You, however, didn't like the way things were.

You ran in the direction you saw Berwald head towards. You weren't exactly sure if you were going to apologize, confess, or heck even slap the guy in the face. You didn't know what you were going to do, but you were going to do something.

You finally caught up to him, and paused for a moment to catch your breath. Then, you yelled, "Berwald! I have something to tell you."

The said man turned to look at you, his face as stern as ever. "M'wife? Wht'r y'dng hr?" He asked.

By now, you were able to process what he said a little faster than before. This time, he said, "My wife? What are you doing here?"

You blushed at what he had said, but responded anyways. You panted, "Berwald, I-"

"_______! I love you! Please go out with me!" A small voice called out. You turned your head in the direction of the voice and saw Tino blushing mad. "You're my best friend, and I love everything about you!" He continued.

Wait, was Tino the one who wrote that letter? Without even thinking to respond, you ran back to your locker and opened the door. A letter slowly drifted to the ground. You frantically picked it up and read it. "You're really small. You're really cute. You smell like cake. I'd like it if you were my wife. You could bake me cakes."

The letter you just finished reading was definitely from Berwald. Looks like you got overemotional for nothing then. Berwald is way too awkward to ever write anything that sweet.

Your two little Romeos caught up to you, asking you to chose between the two of them. It put you in a really tough spot, but you knew what you were going to chose. Tino is gentle, but he's too feminine for your liking. He'd make a perfect uke. On the other hand, Berwald is very masculine, but he's also pretty intimidating. Because of these thoughts, your choice became obvious.

You carefully looked up at both of them and said, "Listen, I really like both of you, but don't you think that you should go out with each other?"
